Baked Apples

Baked apples are an Irish Christmas favourite, these apples with warm custard are a nice winter warmer.

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium cooking apples
  • 25G of sugar
  • 13G of margarine
  • 4 tablespoons of Ground
  • cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of water

Cooking directions:

  1. Wash and remove cores from apples. Do not peel.
  2. Slice the skin around the equator of each apple with the point of a sharp knife.
  3. Mix the margarine, sugar and cinnamon together and fill mixture into the central hole of each apple.
  4. Place apples on a greased tin or pyrax dish and add the
  5. water.
  6. Bake in a moderate oven 190 C until soft.
  7. Cooking duration will be about a half an hour.
  8. Remove the skin from the apples top half and dredge with caster sugar. Pour over the remaining syrup and serve warm custard.
